Turkey Sausage Link Steamed Bao Buns

Stuff steamed bao buns with turkey sausage Links, pickled carrots and daikon, fresh cilantro and a drizzle of Char Siu-style mayo.

1 tbsp.

chopped cilantro

¼ cup(s)

shaved red cabbage

1 ½ tbsp.

Char Siu style mayo

Directions

  1. 1. Preheat oven to 400F and prepare steamer or stovetop basket for lotus leaf buns.
  2. 2. Place turkey sausage links on an oven safe tray and cook for 3-4 minutes, or until internal temperature reaches 165F.
  3. 3. Steam the lotus buns until just heated through and peel apart the opening to fill.
  4. 4. Place the pickled daikon, carrots and red cabbage in the base of the steamed bun.
  5. 5. Add the sausage link and drizzle with a small amount of Char Siu style mayo.
  6. 6. Sprinkle with chopped cilantro and transfer to a plate to serve.
  7. 7. Add lime wedges on the plate and mix the remainder of the pickled daikon and carrots with red cabbage to serve in a ramekin alongside the prepared buns.

mayonnaise (thick variety)

2 tbsp.

Hoisin sauce

2 tbsp.

red fermented bean curd sauce (optional)

1 tsp.

Chinese five spice

1 tsp.

rice vinegar

1 tsp.

honey

Directions

  1. 1. In a bowl, mix all ingredients well.
  2. 2. Transfer to a covered container and refrigerate for at least an hour to allow flavor to develop.

shredded carrots

1 cup(s)

shredded daikon

1 ½ cup(s)

water

1 cup(s)

rice vinegar

¼ cup(s)

mirin

Directions

  1. 1. In a small sauce pot, bring the water, vinegar and mirin to a boil.
  2. 2. In heat safe containers, pour the liquid over the daikon and carrots.
  3. 3. Refrigerate and allow to cool below 40F before using.
