5 Tasty Ways to Celebrate National School Lunch Week 2025 in Global Style

Since 1962, the second full week of October has been known to K-12 schools as National School Lunch Week. Created by President John F. Kennedy to highlight the importance of healthy meals for growing children, this year’s theme is “Taste the World: Your School Lunch Passport!” This makes October 13–17 the perfect time to spotlight global dishes like these, that will keep your menu fresh and get students excited.

  1. Turkey Taco Salad: Turkey taco filling, veggies and a creamy cilantro lime dressing.
  2. Sweet Thai Chili Turkey Over Fried Rice: Turkey medallions with a sweet and spicy teriyaki glaze, veggies, egg and rice.
  3. Asian Street Turkey Unwrap: Romaine, carrots and cucumbers with a tangy sesame-ginger dressing served in a crispy tortilla shell.
  4. Turkey Gyro Burger: Lettuce tomato and onion with a Greek yogurt tzatziki dip sauce.
  5. Turkey Tikka Masala: Shredded turkey thigh roast with tomatoes, garam masala and other spices over brown rice.

Students will love the bold seasonings and creative presentations of each of these options so much, you might want to add them to the regular menu rotation. Which would you try at your school? Tell us on Facebook or LinkedIn.
