Turkey is a Perfect Pick for Center of Plate
August 2016
Turkey is already established as a go-to for a variety of hot and cold sandwiches, but it is an extremely versatile protein that can do so much more. Add value and increase traffic when you think beyond the bread for great-tasting turkey entrées.
Diners are looking for more turkey dishes—37% say they’d like to see turkey offered as a protein choice in a greater range of entrées, and 31% say they’d trade beef for turkey if it was an option. Use these tips and recipe ideas as inspiration for adding more turkey to your menu:
- Give your customers what they want. Use turkey in place of beef in your most popular dishes. If meatloaf is a house special, try offering a turkey version. Do your patrons prefer tacos? Switch it up by making them with ground turkey.
- Cross platforms with a dish that doubles as both a wrap and a salad. The unique Baja Turkey and Salad Wrap uses julienned turkey breast strips, roasted corn and black bean salsa, salsa ranch dressing and a smoky jalapeño vinaigrette for a Southwestern-style twist.
- Put the spotlight on turkey. The White House Plate puts a twist on “meat and potatoes.” Turkey takes the stage as the center-of-plate protein and is topped with a decadently cheesy cream sauce.
